The capital improvement projects, supported by the Capital Campaign, “Shaping the Future of Community Health Care in Northern Illinois,” were completed at the Crusader Community Health on West State Street, the “Woodward Center for Community Healthcare” in March 2009. Some of the capital improvement projects include the Cosmopolitan Patient Learning and Resource Center which will provide patients access to self-health education and the new Founder’s Education Center that will focus on helping patients improve their lives through GED training, group classes on Baby Basics and more.

A donor reception is planned for Tuesday, May 12th from 4 to 6 p.m. in our Founder's Education Center at the Crusader Community Health on West State Street. The campaign projects at the Crusader Community Health on Broadway-Uram Building, included the new Women’s Health Center which were completed in early spring 2008. The new center features 12 patient exam rooms, and an entire wing dedicated to prenatal care, with two ultrasound rooms, a non-stress testing suite and offices for caseworkers devoted to assisting in well pregnancy care. Thanks to a State grant, a high resolution 3-D ultrasound was added so that screening can be conducted during the first tri-mester for high risk pregnancy care.

The Women’s Health Center is staffed with three obstetrician-gynecologists, two certified nurse midwives, family practice physicians with OB specialization and five mid-level providers serving as lead medical staff. In addition to prenatal care, Crusader provides family planning, gynecological care, pap smear, cancer screening, ultrasound testing, diagnosis and treatment of pelvic pain.

Also, Crusader is pleased to announce their new name, Crusader Community Health, to help define our multi-faceted health care programs to new patients and the community. To reinforce our commitment to quality care, our new tagline is: “Care Within Reach”. The community aspect of the new name is evidenced by a growing patient demand for service. Last year more than 40,000 individual patients were served and monthly, more than 600 new patients register for care and our system provides over 160,000 health visits per year.
