The Kiwanis Club of Rockford announced a major gift of $75,000 to the Crusader Community Health to support the Crusader “Baby Basics and More” classes for expectant parents at a press conference held on November 9th. The generous contribution will be made over three years through an endowment fund as directed by the Kiwanis Club of Rockford Endowment Committee.

“The Kiwanis Club of Rockford, chartered in April 1917, is proud to continue its goal of “Serving the Children of the World” through our annual grants to local social service organizations fostering our goals. Crusader Community Health, over the years, has been one such organization and is deserving of our support”, noted Herb Klunk, Chair, Kiwanis Club of Rockford Endowment Fund.

The six week “Baby Basics and More” series covers a variety of medical and safety issues from birth up to two years of age. The goal of the program is to provide up to date information that will assist parents and caregivers in becoming better prepared to safely and confidently care for their newborn/young children. The classes are held at the Crusader Community Health on West State Street and the Broadway-Uram buildings throughout the year.

“We are truly grateful for this wonderful partnership that will assist parents in providing quality care for their infants and toddlers by creating healthy, safe and nurturing environments”, noted Nancy Halverson, Crusader Community Health, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services.
